  • You will be speaking with the veterinarian during the afternoon/evening update. They will contact you as needed for medical decisions, or when their caseload is completed for the day. If your pet is to be discharged, they will discuss it with you at that time.
  • If your pet is awaiting a specialist consultation, often the attending DVM will be the one to discuss the specialist’s evaluation and recommendations with you.
  • Emergency consultations are seen based on the severity of the case and the availability of the Doctor. You will hear from the veterinarian when the results are available.
  • After 6pm the patient care staff will be focused on ICU patients and incoming emergencies. You may experience a wait due to this.
  • You will receive a financial update daily (except for weekends) via email. If you have concerns, please discuss with patient care to ensure we are following an agreeable treatment plan.
  • If your pet is here for an outpatient treatment/procedure and expected to go home the same day, please be mindful that the order pets are attended to is at the medical discretion of the doctor. You may not have an update until late afternoon. Admission time is unrelated to when the procedure will occur.
  • **You are welcome to call for an update any time of day or night.**

Visitation

  • Please note: there will not always be a doctor available to speak with you while you are in the building.
  • Visitations must be scheduled.
  • Typical visitation time is limited to 15 minutes.
  • In order to provide the opportunity for other clients to visit their pets as well, visitation will be limited to once per day. There may be discretionary exceptions due to the nature of the pet's hospitalization, or severity of its condition.
  • Please do not touch or handle any animals besides your own. This is for your safety as well as theirs.
  • No pictures or videos may be taken while inside the hospital.
  • Please do not bring in any outside food or drink. (Pre-approved food for your own animal is okay!)
  • No personal belongings will be kept in the hospital unless medically necessary (ie. harnesses, blankets, toys, etc.).
  • If you are visiting your pet in ICU, please be aware of the staff working around you and respect that they may be working on other patients besides your own.
  • Additionally, if you are visiting your pet in ICU, please be aware that there may be unexpected situations which arise and that may necessitate a shorter visit.

Discharge

  • Discharges are done with scheduled appointments. The Discharge Coordinator or another member of patient care will discuss aftercare, medications, instructions, and follow up exams with you when you are picking up your pet.
  • You will not be speaking with the veterinarian at the time of discharge. Please present any questions you have for them during the afternoon update phone call.
  • Please make sure to collect all medications and pet belongings before leaving.
